One of the very best and unexpected bonuses of the coronavirus pandemic in DC:
Rando baby boomers have stopped coming up to my baby and touching her!!! It’s like a miracle.
I don’t know what it is about boomers but they seriously are always trying to touch my kid. You’d think they’d know better. But they don’t understand non-verbal communication.
I have to summon all my self-defense skills knowledge to say really direct things like:
“I do not want to talk to you.”
“Don’t touch my child.”
“STOP THAT” and
If my kid had better hand-eye coordination I’d give him a fly swatter.
*And yet, even being hella direct, there are STILL so many people in the 55 and up group who are just shocked and dismayed that I would ever be so rude as to tell them to get lost. Why is standing up for your personal space and bodily autonomy viewed so negatively?
so yes, social distancing has been very effective. for me, personally.
