Socially-isolated Walking in Washington, DC

Dear internet,

We can still take walks outside in Washington, D.C.

I have been taking advantage of that (temporary?) freedom, to take walks. Gotta get out of the 700 square foot apartment while we still can. Maintain a two meter distance to others. It’s not very hard.

Usually when I take my daily walks, I stick to the main avenue because the silent green streets on upper northwest DC are just too quiet.

However, now that I live in Coronavirusville,  empty streets are great for walking.

Springtime street in DC

I went to the Tidal Basin a million years ago to see the Cherry Blossoms. There were so many people, it was impossible to move. I swore I’d never go back. Now I wish I could go to the Tidal Basin and be surrounded by people and be annoyed that there wasn’t even a spot to stop and sit and enjoy the blossoms.

yours,

Daya
